These are a few of my favourite Australian designers who are inspired by vintage style:

Miss Fancypants

Sisters by Blossom n Bird

Sailor Dress by Lady Phuncle

Photo Girl on Wall Graffiti by Hey Harriett
I love the 50′s style swimwear designs by Miss Fancypants, they are for women with curves. I really love the skirted swimwear, super cute. Blossom n Bird has the sweetest girliest prints ever. You can find this Queenslanders prints on Etsy. And yes its true I have about four Lady Phuncle pieces and counting! I love the cut and fit of the clothes. Hey Harriet is a Brisbane photographer who photographs Ttv (through the viewfinder). Loving the vintage style graffiti photo.
There are so many designers that create with a vintage style that I love. I’ll have to continue with more next week.
lots of vintage love to be had

This Thursday gone Missy and Chris from Kohii Photography did a photo shoot of some of Brisbane’s clothing, jewellery and accessories designers. The common thread holding all the designers together? Using recycled and repurposed materials in their pieces. And the coolest thing was that it was shot at a local car wreckers. A completely new world of a car wreckers domain was opened up to me!

Well I got my wish and spent my Sunday outdoors in the gorgeous sunlight at the Young Designer Markets. It was such a beautiful day and I was lucky enough to be next to Ash from Lady Phuncle. And her lovely friend Miriam Bligh a Composer. You should check out Mim’s music. Its fantastic. She composes music for Fashion shows, films, dances etc.

I set up Miss Dish in the hall all the while wishing I had a marquee so that I could be outside to enjoy the sunshine. It was the most incredibly beautiful day and the BrisStyle Markets were another fantastic success.
I met up with some old friends from BrisStyle and made a few new ones on the way. BrisStyle is a fantastic community of handcrafters who support and encourage each other in their individual and unique styles. Go BrisStyle!
I bought the cutest bunny ears from Ellie of Red Seed Studio (for my niece who is turning four today) and also a brooch and card from Sam of Jetta’s Nest. Sam’s art is just beautiful and the eyes on the girls she draws are so pretty. Have a look at her stuff. I am sure my niece is going to be very happy with her pressies.
Melanie from Miu and Umi had her sister with her to help out for the day. They are lovely girls and you should check out Melanie’s pretty designs on her etsy shop. I just love the name of her shop its pretty cool….. Miu and Umi!!
And my lovely neighbour Sophie from Strat Designs had a incredible display of resign jewellery. So bright and bold.

The Religion of Fashion Saturday last was a fantastic fashion event. Zoie Mayne the organiser of The Religion of Fashion Tea Party and Fashion Parade did a fantastic job considering it was her first event. Ash from Lady Phuncle and me, Natalie Mayerhofer from Miss Dish collaborated on her fashion debut. I created headbands and hairpieces for her gorgeous feminine creations.

Last Saturday I set up my cube at the new in.cube8r at 253 Wickham Street in the valley. It was so exciting to meet with Vicki and see the progress of the shop. And to meet other ‘cube’ holders who were also setting up their handcrafted wear.
in.cube8r opens this Wednesday 12th May

Hi
I was blown away by the crowds at BrisStyle’s first ever Twilight Markets in King George Square on Friday 30th April. The BrisStyle crew did such a fantastic job organising the event and I think there will be many more Twilight Markets to come. Read more

Wow,
Where to start…. My first ever time at a Roller Derby event and I am hooked. I left so hyped up and have two new heroes ‘Dead Meat’ and ‘Sweet Enemy’ from the Northern Brisbane Rollers. They were in the team Diner-Might Dolls who versed Love Rockettes.
The atmosphere was so exciting starting with meeting up with my friend Ash from Uncle Phuncle (who has also started Lady Phuncle). She had a stall there for the night and the girls where lapping up Lady Phuncle’s retro inspired fashion.
